DISCOVER THE MUSIC WITH US

Welcome to the Discover the Music Ltd.  Our team of teachers (known as the Showcase Music School) are honoured to work with thousands of young people every week both in and out of schools around Southampton, Hampshire & the New Forest. We visit over 20 schools where we deliver a reliable service, consistency and above all, happiness and inspiration with our modern approach. Over 700 local children learn to play and sing with us as part of our Instrumental and Vocal lesson programme every week.   Whole classes are taught using our immersive scheme of work ‘Discover the Music’ which is centred around playing instruments and singing. Our passion for music is infectious and our aim is to inspire as many children as possible through an engaging curriculum and extra-curricular provision.

OUR PROVISION

From day to day, our teachers deliver curriculum lessons as either PPA or with class teachers present for CPD, instrumental teaching (parent paid - easing admin responsibilities & financial subsidy from school), ensembles, clubs, workshops and more.

‘Discover the Music’ (our brand new scheme of work programme) ensures our schools can demonstrate the progression of music for each child throughout their entire school journey. Most importantly, ‘Discover the Music’ provides children with an inspiring and fully engaging music curriculum where singing and playing a musical instrument is key in every year group. The scheme is included as part of our SLA agreements with schools.

Over 700 young people have instrumental and singing lessons with our team each week and this number is growing. We host a weekly youth orchestra for children of all abilities alongside a youth choir and other ensembles. We have capacity to facilitate lessons in school whist billing parents directly to ease pressures on school admin. Our clubs include drumming academies, choirs, ensembles and music technology inspired sessions.

SAFEGUARDING

Our commitment to Safeguarding children is our highest priority. We understand our role and we have a team of highly trained Designated Safeguarding Lead Officers. Our entire team are trained in person each year and are provided with regular reminders and tasks to complete to reinforce their knowledge, understanding and strict adherence.

All team members are recruited through a thorough process which includes background checks (pre-and-during employment), DBS check, suitability to work with children checks, referencing and more before authorisation to enter our schools to deliver any work. Our partner schools regularly scrutinise our Safeguarding practises and are provided with comprehensive and updated details of the whole team in order to update their Single Central Record reliably.

You can find out more by visiting our SAFEGUARDING page or by contacting us (below) to request a copy of our Safeguarding Policy.
